The Romanian Ice Hockey Cup , Romanian Cupa României la Hochei pe gheață has been held since 1969.

Participant and mode

The seven teams from last year's Romanian League took part in the 2001 Romanian Ice Hockey Cup. The first three teams of the season were set for the tournament, the other four played a qualifying round in which Dinamo Bucharest qualified. As usual, the cup was played at the start of the season. There was only one game without a second leg. For the first time after 1988, the winner was not the series winner Steaua Bucharest, but for the first time SC Miercurea Ciuc.
