Rummerschlegel
The rock group Rummerschlegel belongs to the Zingsheim district , a district of the Eifel community Nettersheim .
Rummerschlegel is located in the north-west of the Zingsheim district, part of the Sötenicher Kalkmulde . The crenellated rocks are made of dolomite from the Middle Devonian . Rummerschlegel is a stop on the “Nettersheim Tour 1: Geology and Fossils” hiking trail.
In 1972 Löhr discovered a microlith and some bone fragments here, which suggest that in the Stone Age, hunters of the Ahrensburg culture who hunted reindeer also visited Rummerschlegel in addition to the Kartstein caves 4 km away .
According to a legend, a Roman general is said to be buried under the rocks, who fell in a battle between an unknown people and the Romans who advanced from Keldenich into the valley.
