Rune Skjærvold (born September 13, 1974 in Stavanger / Norway ) is a Norwegian handball player . His height is 1.88 m.

Skjærvold, who plays for the Norwegian club Kolstad Håndball and ran for the Norwegian men's national handball team, is mostly used on the right winger.

Rune Skjærvold started playing handball in his hometown at Stavanger IF. There he also made his debut in the Norwegian elite series. In 1997 he went to Heimdal HK in Trondheim, but returned after only one year to his hometown, where he however joined local rivals and then champions Viking Stavanger. With Viking he won the trophy in 2000. In 2002 he moved abroad for the first time, namely to TUSEM Essen in the German handball league . There he remained largely unsuccessful, so that he returned to his old club after two years. But this time too he did not stay long; after half a year he went back to Heimdal HK. In the summer of 2003 Skjærvold was then committed by the Danish first division club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and used immediately; but because Skjærvold was not yet eligible to play, 4 points were deducted from the club. From 2004 Skjærvold played for two years with AaB Håndbold in Aalborg before returning to his home country in 2006, where he joined Stord IL.

Rune Skjærvold has so far played 110 international matches for the Norwegian men's national handball team . His greatest success with Norway was the seventh place at the World Handball Championship for Men, he participated in 2005. Norway 's European Handball Championship in 2006 and at the World Handball Championship for Men 2007 in Germany in part, but resigned both times after the first round and finished in 13th place in the latter. He also took part in the 2008 European Handball Championship in his own country.
