The neighboring Domarring

The Björketorp rune stone (DR 360) is a rune stone from the 7th century and stands on a burial ground about one kilometer west of Listerby , a crime scene in the municipality of Ronneby in the Swedish province of Blekinge län . The approximately four meter high stone is one of the tallest rune stones in Sweden and belongs to the group of Blekinger rune stones .

The rune stone is the most striking object within a find complex. It forms a triangle with two slightly lower building stones , with seven other stones the complex forms a domar ring . The overall context of the stone setting indicates a consecrated place of a cult and / or thing site .

Inscriptions

The runic inscriptions are added on both sides of the front and back of the stone. The interpretation of the Old Norse inscription is controversial. The inscription (around 675 AD) uses runes from the older Futhark and is in the meter of Galdralag , the Germanic spell or galster / galders . The text says:

HaidR runo runu, falh'k hedra ginnarunaR. Argiu hermalausR,… weladauþe, saR þat brytR.
The glossy runes (that is, the series that came from the heavenly powers) I hid here, magic runes. Restless through insolence (perversity), outside [= in a foreign place] is a treacherous death who destroys this (monument).
Uþarba spa.
I herald doom
