Rupert Pfab

Rupert Pfab (* 1964 in Bayreuth ) is a German art historian and exhibition curator.

Life

Pfab studied art history and history in Würzburg , Bologna and Berlin and received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin under Eberhard König .

Since the mid-1990s he has been a curator for contemporary art and photography in various museums and exhibition halls, including the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf , the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf and the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg.

Pfab has published numerous texts on contemporary art and has curated exhibitions, including the first retrospective by Andreas Gursky in 1998 in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (together with Marie Luise Syring ). A year later he also curated at the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, the comprehensive exhibition City of Beat Streuli , which subsequently also in the Zurich Kunsthaus was shown. He was curator of the two-part exhibition today until now. Contemporary photography from Düsseldorf , in which 34 artists took part and which was shown in 2002 at the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf. In December 2005 he founded the Rupert Pfab gallery in Düsseldorf , since then Pfab has been a gallery owner. Rupert Pfab has been a member of the Advisory Board for Fine Arts in Düsseldorf and the jury of the Künstlerdorf Schöppingen (2009, 2010, 2011) since 2010 and was on the juries of the AT Kearney Prize (2009, 2010) and the Epson Art Award (2007, 2008) .
