Russian American Line
The Russian American Line ( Russian Русско-американская линия ) was a Russian shipping company based in Libau , which existed from 1900 to 1917.
history
The Russian American Line was founded in 1900 by the Danish trading company Det Østasiatiske Kompagni ( East Asiatic Company ) based in Copenhagen to create a basis for trade between Russia and the Far East . After the Russo-Japanese War , the Holland-America Line acquired large shares in the Russian American Line, which in 1906 led to a joint liner service from Libau via Rotterdam to New York .
After the February Revolution of 1917 , the shipping company ceased its service and the ships were sold, mainly to the Baltic America Line .
