The Russian All-Military Union ( Russian Русский общевоинский союз (РОВС) / Russki obschtschewoinski sojus (ROWS) , scientific transliteration Russkij obščevoinskij sojuz (ROVS) ) is a patriotic-monarchist organization of the White and Soviet Union against the Bolshevik movement . The ROWS was founded on September 1, 1924 in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia as the successor to the White Army by General Pyotr Nikolaevich Wrangel .

history

Pyotr Wrangel with his wife, the Metropolitan Antonius (Chrapowizki) , other dignitaries of the Orthodox Church and other Russian emigrants from the ROWS in Yugoslavia in 1927.

The ROWS, initially the mass organization of Russian emigrants, had around a hundred thousand members when it was founded. The staff was based in Paris . There were offshoots in the countries of Europe as well as in South America , the USA and China .

From 1936 to 1939 ROWS members fought against the Popular Front in Spain and against the People's Liberation Army in China .

Before the Second World War , the commanders of the ROWS were predestined foreign targets for the GPU . In 1930 Alexander Pavlovich Kutepow and in 1937 Yevgeny Karlowitsch Miller were kidnapped to Moscow and executed there. During the Second World War, the ROWS was largely neutral; waited in vain for an independent Russian liberation army.

The members of the ROWS regard the Slavophile , conservative monarchist Ivan Iljin († 1954) as their ideologue. In his extensive work references to Fichte , Hegel , Stirner and Pushkin appear .

In 1992 ROWS became active in Russia . In the mid-1990s, the ROWS fell out over the question of whether it was still necessary after the Soviet Union had collapsed and the communists were no longer in power at home. The majority of the members answered in the negative. Accordingly, in a vote in 2000, the dissolution of the ROWS was decided by a large majority. A small minority, mainly members living in Russia, did not want to accept the decision. ROWS still exists in Russia today. Its commanding officer is Captain Igor Borisovich Ivanov.

Publications

Часовой (La Sentinelle) (Tschassowoi / Der Posten), the monthly ROWS magazine, was published in Russian in Paris and Brussels until 1988 . The almanac Вестник РОВС (Westnik ROWS / ROWS-Zeitung) deals with problems of the anti-communist movement, the history and ideology of the Imperial Russian Army , the White Movement and the Russian White Emigration.
