The rod anglers (Ceratiidae) are a family of deep-sea frogfish (Ceratioidei). They live in the Atlantic , Pacific and Indian Oceans .

Rod anglers have very small, probably functionless eyes. The mouth is almost vertical. The dorsal fin has four, in rare cases five, soft rays , the anal fin four. In front of the dorsal fin there are three fleshy appendages that were formed from fin rays.

The males live as dwarf males attached to the females. Ceratias holboelli becomes over a meter long.
