Ruth Downie

Ruth Downie (born April 18, 1955 in Ilfracombe , Devon ) is a British writer.

Downie studied at King's College in London a . a. English literature . After completing her studies, she worked as a typist for some time; Her first literary attempts also date from this period. One of her short stories was awarded the BBC3's Fay Weldon Prize in 2004.

Downie is married and has two sons. She lives with her family in Buckinghamshire and was able to debut very successfully in 2006 with her novel "Death of a Slave".
