Ruth Kolb-Lünemann (born June 7, 1924 in Elberfeld ; † June 1, 1999 ) was a German social politician ( SPD ) and city councilor in Wuppertal .

Life

Ruth Kolb-Lünemann came from a social democratic family in Wuppertal. The youth were shaped by the resistance against the National Socialist regime. Her father Karl Lünemann, long-time chairman of the Elberfeld SPD, lost his job in 1933. Ruth Kolb-Lünemann later reports how the picture of August Bebel hanging on the wall as a likeness of an uncle was passed on during a house search . In 1943, at the age of fifty, his father was called up for military service. Ruth Kolb-Lünemann was shaped in her political actions during the first two decades of her life.

In autumn 1945 she supported Alfred Dobbert in an attempt to found a newspaper for Wuppertal . In the post-war period she played a key role in building up the falcons , the union youth and the young socialists. In 1950 she moved into the Elberfeld district council . In 1952 , according to the stenographic report of the council meeting on November 25, 1952, Miss Lünemann was elected to the council of the city of Wuppertal, to which she belonged until 1994 as a member of the SPD parliamentary group.

She was involved in many areas of local politics. She fought against totalitarianism and fascism through social politics. Her hobby horse was youth welfare, the construction of many children and youth facilities goes back to the initiative of Ruth Kolb-Lünemann. The conversion of the Barmer Hall of Fame, which was destroyed in the war, to the House of Youth - with joint use by the Barmer Kunstverein - is an example of this. As chairwoman of the youth welfare committee and later the youth welfare committee , she represented the interests of young people in Wuppertal.
