In Chocnějovice itself, a small aristocratic manor was probably established in the middle of the 13th century. The first known owner, Olen z Chocnějovic, is mentioned in 1316, the first mention of the place name comes from 1322. A few other names of the local landlord family are documented from the 14th and 15th centuries. In the south the estate bordered on the large possessions of the Cistercian Abbey of Hradiště Monastery and in the north on the equally powerful Johanniter dominion in Český Dub .
The St. Gallus Church is architecturally related to the building of the Johanniter-Kommende in Český Dub and is associated with the building activities of the Johanniter in this area. It served as a parish church from 1352 to 1405. There is also documentary evidence of a fortified mansion and a farm from 1549 to 1621.
