geography

The village is located on a fertile, intensively agricultural plain in the valley of the Klenice brook , a left tributary of the Jizera . The center of the district capital Mladá Boleslav is 6.5 kilometers to the west. history

The first mention of the place comes from 1255. In that year the Vladike Malhost de Schidinawes appears as the owner of the local rule in a Latin document. 1302 ownership passed to Benesch von Wartenberg . Under King Wenceslaus II the place received market rights. From 1558 to 1850 it belonged to the neighboring Březno.

Zydinawes (1302), Zydynyewes (1397), Zidnowes (1654) and Žitnoves (1904) are further variants of the place name, as well as the onomatopoeic German translation Judendorf from 1789 .
