Mohelnice nad Jizerou (German: Mohelnitz an der Iser ) is a municipality with 77 inhabitants in Okres Mladá Boleslav , Czech Republic .
geography
The municipality is located at the confluence of the Jizera and Mohelka rivers , 5 kilometers from the town of Mnichovo Hradiště . Other neighboring towns are Jivina and Mukařov in the west, Neveklovice in the north and Loukov and Loukovec in the east. Road No. 277 from Mnichovo Hradiště to Český Dub runs through the village .
history
The village of Mohelnice was first mentioned in 1352. From the 15th century it belonged to the lords of Riesenburg , from 1503 as part of the Loukovec lordship to those of Wartenberg . Mohelnice has only been an independent municipality since 1905. In 1921 285 residents lived here in 50 houses, today 77 people are still resident in Mohelnice (as of 2006).
Attractions
- Romanesque Church of the Assumption
- The ruins of the Zásadka Castle are located near the village. The 14th century manor house was converted into a castle in the 15th century. Remnants of walls and ditches are still preserved from this construction phase. After 1560 the castle was rebuilt into a renaissance style palace. It was no longer inhabited after the 17th century and was abandoned after a fire in 1790.
