geography

Sezemice is located in Central Bohemia, east of the Mohelkatales and north of the Jizera . Slavín hill (291 m) rises to the east.

Neighboring towns are Sedlisko, Kobyly and Nechálov in the north, Kojecko and Havlovice in the northeast, Jirsko and Svijanský Újezd in the east, Koryta and Sovenice in the south, Drahotice and Křivolačiny in the southwest, Buřínsko in the west and Sovinky and Buda in the northwest.

history

The village of Sezemice, located on the old Landessteig from Prague to Upper Lusatia , was specified in the founding deed of the Benedictine monastery Kladrau from 1115 together with Vladislavice, who belonged to the district, as a gift from Duke Vladislav I. This document has since proven to be a subsequent forgery from the end of the 12th century.

In the 12th century, the Hradiště monastery received the areas adjoining the Sezemicer Sprengel to the south, the border forest in the north became the property of the Markwartinger . In 1237 the Kladrau abbot Regner Sezemice sold to the Markwartinger Gallus von Lämberg. This handed over the newly acquired property to the Order of St. John as the basis for the foundation of the Coming St. Mary in Český Dub . The Sezemice area was surrounded on three sides by the possessions of the Hradiště monastery and only connected to the goods of the Coming on the north. In 1425 and 1429 the Hussites under Andreas Prokop devastated the lands of the Kommende so badly that they were abandoned by the Johannites. The rule of Český Dub was initially occupied by Jan Čapek ze Sán . The village of Sezemice came to the Friedstein rule and in the 1490s to the Kleinskal rule . After the uprising of the estates in 1547, the village belonged to the confiscated property of Adam von Wartenberg , which Johann von Oppersdorff received and connected to the Rohozec rule . From the 16th century there was a community of the Bohemian Brothers in the village, who met in private houses in the village.

After Adam von Wartenberg's death in 1565, his sons were able to get their father's goods back. When the inheritance was divided, the village was added to the newly established Svijany rule and remained there until the patrimonial rule was abolished in 1850. The owners of the village included u. a. the Smiřický von Smiřice , from 1614 Joachim Andreas von Schlick and after his execution Maximilian von Waldstein and from 1814 the princes Rohan .

In 1850 the political community Sezemice / Sezemitz was established in the district of Münchengrätz . In 1886, the “U Zemanů” estate, one of the most important architectural monuments in the village, was demolished. The large and richly decorated timber-framed dwelling house was built as a secret prayer house for the Bohemian brothers.

After the dissolution of the Okres Mnichovo Hradiště, Sezemice was incorporated into the Okres Mladá Boleslav on January 1, 1961. In 1980 it was incorporated into Loukovec . The municipality of Sezemice has existed again since 1992.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Bartholomew, which can be verified since 1352, belonged to the Turnov deanery and was also a parish church for the villages of Drahotice, Buda, Kobyly, Sedlisko and part of Havlovice until the Hussite Wars. Then the parish in Sezemice went out. In 1610, at the instigation of Joachim Andreas von Schlick, the church was rebuilt. Until 1671 it was a branch church of Mnichovo Hradiště. With the re-establishment of the parish in Loukov , the Sezemice branch was given up and attached to the Loukov parish. In 1853 the church was given its present form during a renovation. The wooden bell tower from 1666 was also removed and a church tower was added to the western part of the nave.
