history

Čejetice was first mentioned in 1289 in a deed of gift from Bavors III. von Strakonitz to the Order of St. John in Strakonice , in which Jan von Čejetice is listed as a witness. In the second half of the 14th century the Dlouhoveský von Dlouhá Ves owned Čejetice. They were followed in 1389 by the lords of Dunovec, who divided the property into two Vladiken estates . These changed hands several times in the 15th century, and there has been evidence of a festival since 1406. At the beginning of the Hussite Wars , the Battle of Sudoměř took place on March 25, 1420 between the ponds of Sudoměř .

After 1490 one of the estates went out. The fortress, which was located by the St. Gallus Church, was last inhabited until 1497 by Jan and Jindřich Strpský von Strpí. In the following years the Říčanský from Říčany acquired the village including the desert fortresses, which was listed as the property of the Štěkeň rule since 1543 . After the Battle of White Mountain , the Štěkeň manor was confiscated from the property of Jan Malovec of Malovice in 1622. In 1623 the parish in Čejetice went out and the church of St. Gallus became a burial chapel.

1648, the previously wandered in from Switzerland to Bohemia nobles acquired in January Anton Losy of Losinthal the rule Štěkeň with the associated villages Řepice , Maldějovice, Přešťovice , Čejetice, Droužetice , Přeborovice, Brusy, Cehnice , Dunovice, Netonice, Radějovice , Paračov, Kuřimeny , Sudkovice and Černěkov by Johann Anton, Prince of Eggenberg . After his death in 1682 his son Johann Baptist Štěkeň inherited. He died in 1683 and his brother Johann Anton Losy von Losinthal took over the inheritance . In 1720 he handed over his estate Štěkeň to his son Adam Philipp . After Adam Philipp Count Losy von Losinthal died on April 21, 1781 in Vienna without heirs, his widow Ernestine Countess Fuchs von Bimbach inherited the rule. In the same year she sold the property to Joseph-Niklas zu Windisch-Graetz . He was followed in 1802 by his son Alfred I. zu Windisch-Graetz .

After the abolition of patrimonial Čejetice became an independent municipality in 1848. On September 1, 1868, the railway began operating and by 1879 the line between České Budějovice and Strakonice was completed. The railway station in Čejetice was renamed Štěkeň on April 30, 1891 , it is now called Čejetice again. In 1925, a Jan Žižka monument was erected on the Sudoměř battlefield.
