history

Hosticz was first mentioned in writing in 1274 as the property of Držislav, son of Wilhelm von Hosticz. In 1315 Queen Elisabeth granted the village belonging to the Wolin feudal area artistic privileges . Later Hoštice belonged to the castle lords of Hluboka and Karlberg . In the 16th century the estate belonged to the Kotz von Dobrz , then Wilhelm von Rosenberg . The latter sold it to Ernst Vitanovský von Vlčkovice in 1593. The Vitanovský von Vlčkovice family held the property until the end of the 17th century. Then Vladislav Chlumčanský from Přestavlk bought the estate. He was succeeded in the first half of the 18th century by Anton Chlumčanský of Přestavlk. After his death, his son Adalbert Chlumčanský inherited it, who in 1784 sold it to his brother, the Prague canon Wenceslaus Leopold Chlumčanský von Přestavlk . In 1788 a school was established. Bishop Wenzel Leopold Chlumčanský sold the Hostitz estate in 1799 to Joachim Zadubský von Schönthal, who sold it to Joseph Hann in 1810. The following owners were from 1814 Joseph Franz Dreyschock, from 1815 Maria Antonia Lutz von Stahlenberg, from 1817 Joseph Graf von Unwerth and from 1822 Johann Schubert Edler von Schutterstein. This was followed by his son Heinrich Schubert von Schutterstein.

In 1840 the Hostitz estate comprised a usable area of 561 yoke 786.5 square fathoms. Only the village of the same name belonged to the estate. The village of Hostitz or Hoschtitz / Hostice or Hosstice consisted of 46 houses with 351 mostly Czech-speaking inhabitants. Among them were five Israelite houses in which eleven families lived. In Hostitz , under the patronage of the Religionsfonds, there was the local church of the Birth of Mary, a localist apartment and a school, as well as an official castle with the official chancellery, an official farm, a sheep farm, a brewery, a brandy house, two taverns and a remote Wasenmeisterei. Hostitz was the pastor of Jedrasch ( Jedraž ), Miliwitz , Milikowitz ( Milíkovice ), Strinkowitz and Sworischau ( Svaryšov ). Hostitz remained an independent estate until the middle of the 19th century .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Hoštice / Hostitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Strakonice and the judicial district Volyně . At the end of the 19th century, the official place name Hostice was used. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1891. The last private owner of the castle was Malwine von Schutterstein, the wife of Adolf Haid von Haidenburg, who died in 1940. Mayor Luděk Bělohlav died on May 10, 2008 during a hunting dog test in Protivec near Strunkovice nad Blanicí .
