Source of the Volyňka

The Volyňka (German Wolinka , also Wollinka ) is a right tributary of the Otava in the Czech Republic .

The Volyňka rises in the Bohemian Forest on the eastern slope of the Světlá hora ( Lichtberg , 1123 m) and initially flows in a northerly direction. About 500 m below its source, the Volyňka is dammed in the small reservoir Světlohorská nádrž. Via Smrčí, Lipka, Michlův Mlýn, Velký Dům, Brantlův Dvůr, Vimperk , Adolfov, Paříž, Výškovice and Sudslavice, the Volyňka flows through a narrow valley that is partly bordered by rock walls. The Opolenec nature reserve with the Sudslavická jeskyně cave is located on the right-hand side near Sudslavice. From Bohumilice the river changes its direction to the east and U Jirků, U Smítků, Sedlec, Čkyně , Lčovice and Malenice follow . The run then leads north again via Černětice, Račí, Nišovice , Volyně , Přechovice , Hamr, Němětice , Strunkovice nad Volyňkou , Přední Zborovice , Radošovice , Mutěnice and Přední Ptákovice. In Strakonice the Volyňka joins the Otava after 46 km . The catchment area of ​​the Volyňka covers 413 km².

The Strakonice – Volary railway follows the river between Lipka and Strakonice .
