Mutěnice (German Muttenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers south of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres Strakonice .

Geographical location

Mutěnice is located in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest . The village extends on the left bank of the Volyňka at the confluence of the Smiradický creek. The Velká Kakada (564 m) rises to the east, the Hradiště (604 m), the Kbíl (664 m) and the Kamenná bába (557 m) to the southwest, and the V Holí (435 m) to the west. To the west is a pond area with the Velkoholský rybník and five other ponds.

history

The first written mention of Mutinitze took place in 1243 when Bavor I. von Strakonitz and his wife Dobislawa took over the village together with other goods from them at the church of St. Prokop in Strakonitz established a formal convent of the Order of Malta . In 1840 Mutienitz / Mutěnice consisted of 23 houses with 146 inhabitants. In the village there was a manorial farm and sheep farm as well as a Dominikal mill with a board saw. The parish was Strakonitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Mutěnice / Mutienitz 1850 a district of the municipality Radošovice in the district administration and the judicial district Strakonice. In the second half of the 19th century, a brick factory, a fluorite quarry and a fez factory were built . In 1887 Mutenice broke away from Radošovice and formed its own municipality. The place name was changed back to Mutěnice at the end of the 19th century . At this time the fluorite quarry was shut down. At the beginning of 1974 the village was incorporated into Strakonice. After a referendum, Mutěnice became independent again on January 1, 1992.
