history

The middle Otava valley was formed at the transition from the 2nd to the 1st millennium BC. First settled, but no finds from this time have been made in the area of the municipality. The oldest finds are ceramic remains with graphite decorations from the 1st century, which can be assigned to the Celtic tribe of the Bojer. In 1931 the archaeologist Bedřich Dubský discovered a Celtic barrow on the dirt road between Pracejovice and Sloučín. On the hill Hradiště near Sousedovice there was a Slavic fortification between the 8th and 10th centuries. It is believed that Pracejovice was founded by a Pracejův family at the beginning of the 11th century. Since the 13th century the village belonged to the possessions of the Bavor von Strakonitz .

The first written mention of Pracejovice was on January 22, 1308 as Bavor III. von Strakonitz sold the village including the soap, pond and meadows to the Order of Malta . In the following five and a half centuries, the independent village was under the castle rights administration of the Maltese. In 1840 Pratschowitz or Pratzowitz / Pračowice consisted of 20 houses with 158 inhabitants. There was a chapel in the village. A hunter's house lay off to the side. The parish was Strakonitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Pracejovice / Pratzowitz 1850 with the districts Mukarov and Drachkov a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Strakonice. In 1921 Drachkov and Makarov broke away from Pracejovice and formed their own communities. In 1964 Drachkov and Makarov were incorporated again. After a referendum, Drachkov became independent again on January 1, 1992.
