history

The first written mention of Lažany was in 1384 as the property of the Ježe von Lažan. From 1402 the estate belonged to the Žakavec von Lažan family. The first owner of this family was Heinrich Žakavec between 1402 and 1422, who is also documented as a burgrave on the Helfenburg . He was followed by Jan Žakavec, from 1489 the brothers Nikolaus and Lev Žakavec and from 1525 Wenceslaus Žakavec von Lažan. In 1544 he had a fortress built on a rocky knoll and in the same year renewed the registration of the farm and village. Three years later he sold the estate to Wolf von Riesenberg auf Janovice, who in 1550 sold it to Pavel Kořenský von Terešov. This last owned Lažan in 1572 together with Adam Kořenský, who then inherited him. After Adam's death, his daughter Elisabeth became the owner of Lažan, and in 1604 she gave the Gur to her second husband Fabian Joachim Sekera von Sedčice, who had his seat in Lažan until 1615. After that, Lažan was combined with the Čekanice estate. In 1668 Katharina Enis, née Vitanovská von Vlčkovice, bought both goods. In 1673 she sold it to Marina Katherina Enis, née Častolár von Langendorf. Around 1680, Franz Enis, who came from the Irish noble family Mac Ennis, acquired the goods. He received in 1680 for his achievements in the fight against the Hungarians and Turks the Inkolat to Imperial Knight. After the death of Heinrich Reichsritter Enis von Atter and Iveaghe, property was shared between his two sons at the end of the 17th century. Wilhelm Enis received Čekanice, his brother Ernst got Lažany. The next owner of Lažany from 1764 was Franz Freiherr Enis von Atter and Iveaghe, who left the property to his younger brother Joseph Thaddäus for usufruct in 1818. After the fire in the Meierhof in 1822, it was rebuilt. In 1824 Joseph Thaddäus son, the kk chamberlain Karl Alexander Enis, became owner of the Miltschitz estate including Laschan through substitution .

In 1840 the Laschan-Miltschitz estate comprised a usable area of 778 yokes 814 square fathoms. A total of 472 people lived on the estate, including four Israelite families. The main source of income was agriculture, the yields of which were mediocre because of the stony and sandy soils. The estate included the villages of Laschan and Miltschitz ( Milčice ). The official village of Laschan / Lažan consisted of 33 houses with 258 Czech-speaking residents, including three Israelite families. To distinguish it from the nearby Laschan-Desfours ( Defurovy Lážany ), the village was mostly referred to as Enis-Laschan or Miltschitz-Laschan . In the village there was a stately castle with a public chapel, an orchard and flower garden as well as a park, a yard, an office building, a sheep farm, a brewery, a brandy house, a potash boiler and a hunter's house. The Kořensky mill with a board saw ( Kořenský Mlýn ) and a brickworks with a Hegers apartment ( Sosnovec ) lay apart . The parish was Zaboř . Until the middle of the 19th century Laschan remained the official village of the allodial property Laschan-Miltschitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Enisovy Lažany / Enis-Laschan 1850 a district of the municipality Čekanice in the district administration and the judicial district Blatná. Wenzel Freiherr Enis von Atter and Iveaghe (1820–1902) acquired the Kámen Castle at that time and had it regotised between 1860 and 1870. When the municipality of Doubravice intended to build its own school, Wenzel Freiherr Enis was able to get it to be built in Enisovy Lažany . It was inaugurated in 1866 and also visited by the children from Doubravice. After the bread pond was drained, the Na Sázkách settlement was built on the Meierhof . Lažany / Lažan has been used as an official place name since the beginning of the 20th century . In 1907 Lažany broke away from Čekanice and formed its own municipality. After the death of Heinrich Enis von Atter and Iveaghe (1858–1924), his daughter Marietta, Countess of Thun and Hohenstein inherited the castle. In 1960 Lažany was assigned to the Okres Strakonice in the course of the abolition of the Okres Blatná. In 1964 it was incorporated into Doubravice. Since the primary school closed in the 1980s, lessons have taken place in Záboří. The schoolhouse was then converted into a residential unit for the old people's home located in the castle and transferred to the community after its closure in 2002. Lažany became independent again on January 1, 1992.

Culture and sights

  • Lažany Castle, it was built in the 16th century in the Renaissance style in place of a fortress probably built in the 14th century as the seat of the knights Enis von Atter and Iveaghe. In 1760 there was a baroque redesign and expansion. Further modifications were made in the 19th century and in the years 1904–1924. In 1948 Marietta, nee Freiin Enis von Atter and Iveaghe (1885–1961) and her husband Adalbert von Thun and Hohenstein (1880–1957) were expropriated. From 1955 the castle served as a retirement home. The facade was renewed in 1989. After the Velvet Revolution, the castle was restored to the Enis family in 2002, who have since left it to decay. The castle is surrounded by an English park.
