Mečichov [ ˈmɛt͡ʃɪxɔf ] (German Metschichow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers northeast of Horažďovice in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres Strakonice .

Geographical location
Mečichov is located on the right bank of the Mečichovský creek on a plateau in the Blatenská pahorkatina hill country. A cascade of ponds extends to the west and south-west, of which the Věžiště, the Bilý kámen and the Bejchlín are the largest. To the northeast rises Míšná hora (556 m), in the southeast of the Hřeben (597 m).

history
The first written mention of the village took place in 1539 as the property of the Johanniterkommende Strakonice . In 1840 Metschichow / Mečychow consisted of 65 houses with 401 inhabitants. There was a private school in the village with a teacher maintained by the community. The parish was Zaboř . Until the middle of the 19th century, Metschichow was always subject to the Strakonitz rule.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Mečichov / Metschichow a municipality in the Strakonice district administration and the judicial district Horažďovice. In 1949 the community was assigned to the newly formed Okres Horažďovice, after its abolition in 1960 it came back to Okres Strakonice.

- Chapel of the Virgin Mary and St. Adalbert, on the village square, consecrated in 1741
- Memorial to the fallen soldiers of the First World War
- Niche chapel of St. Trinity, north of the village on the plague cemetery on the Míšná hora
Green spaces and recreation
- The protected landscape area CHKO Bílý Kámen (Věžiště), the 15.84 hectare wetland around the pond Věžiště was included in the national Natura 2000 register because of the occurrence of the dark meadow-head ant blues.
