Číčenice [ ˈt͡ʃiːt͡ʃɛɲɪt͡sɛ ], until 1923 Čičenice (German Čičenitz , 1939–1945 Zitschenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers east of Vodňany in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres Strakonice . Číčenice is a railway junction .

Geographical location

Číčenice is located in the southern part of the Písecká pahorkatina ( Písek hill country ). The village lies on the right side of the Bílý potok brook in the valley basin of its tributary Číčenický potok. The Číčenice (449 m) rises to the north, the Chocholouš (523 m) to the northeast, the Nuzová (437 m) to the east and the Kraví hora (435 m) to the south. To the south are the Strpský rybník and Mlýnský rybník ponds, southwest of the Dřemlinský rybník. 700 m west of the village runs the railway line České Budějovice – Plzeň , south the railway line Číčenice – Týn nad Vltavou . In addition, the Číčenice – Haidmühle railway branches off at the Číčenice station .

The municipality of Číčenice consists of the districts Číčenice ( Čičenitz ), Strpí ( Stirp ) and Újezdec ( Klein Augezd ) as well as the layers of Červené Chalupy and Klůs.

Neighboring towns are Milenovice, Podskalí and Zlouň in the north, Záboří and Ovčín in the Northeast, Chvalešovice, Červené Chalupy, Bílá Hůrka and Strachovice the east, Újezdec, Záblatí and Záblatíčko the southeast, Strpí, Haj and Černěves in the south, Újezd in the southwest, Vodňany and U Kulhánků in the west and Čavyně and Radčice in the northwest.

history

Archaeological finds show that the area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age .

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1335. During the reign of King George of Podebrady , on July 20, 1468, a battle between the king's troops and the Grünberger Alliance took place on the Kraví hora .

In 1840 Čičenitz consisted of 36 houses with 249 inhabitants. Eighteen houses each belonged to the Protiwin rule and the Frauenberg rule . There was an inn in the Protiwiner part. The parish was Protivin. Until the middle of the 19th century the village was divided between the allodial rule Protiwin including the Fideikommissgut Radomielitz and the rule Frauenberg.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Číčenice / Čičenitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Písek Vodňany . Between 1868 and 1870 the imperial and royal privileged Kaiser-Franz-Josephs-Bahn built the railway line České Budějovice – Plzeň . In 1893, traffic on the Číčenice-Prachatice line began, and at the beginning of the 20th century it was extended to Haidmühle in Bavaria . The official place name Číčenice has been used since 1924. In 1949 the municipality was assigned to Okres Vodňany, after its abolition it came to Okres Strakonice at the beginning of 1961 . Strpí and Újezdec were incorporated in 1961. The Týn nad Vltavou-Újezdec railway line, which had existed since 1898, was extended to Číčenice between 1986 and 1989 due to the construction of the nuclear power plant in Temelín .

Culture and sights

  • Chapel of St. Wenceslas on the village square, it was built in 1888 instead of a small one, St. The predecessor building consecrated to Johannes von Nepomuk. The altarpiece created by the Písek painter Václav Šebel ( Wenzel Schöbel ) is a gift from Princess Ida von Schwarzenberg.
  • Farmsteads No. 16, 17 and 18 in the peasant baroque style
