history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1227 as the property of the St. George Monastery at Prague Castle . Later owners were Messrs. Kotz von Dobrz , the city of Vimperk and Peter Wok von Rosenberg . He sold the village in 1569 to the grand priory of the knightly Order of Malta in Strakonitz . In the second half of the 17th century the village belonged to the Knights Malowetz von Malowitz . In 1681 the Prague cathedral provost Johann Ignatz Baron Chanowsky Dlauhowesky von Langendorf bought Zahortschitz from Christoph Malowetz von Malowitz and connected it to his Kraselov estate. After he had acquired the Niemtschitz estate in 1697, Zahortschitz was subordinate to Niemtschitz. On January 10, 1701, he finally united the estates of Niemtschitz and Hoděgow with the Krasilau estate in a will to form a Fideikommiss for his nephew Adam Joseph Freiherr Chanowsky Krasylowsky Dlauhowesky von Langendorf. This then always remained in the possession of the barons Chanowsky Krasylowsky Dlauhowesky von Langendorf. In 1840 Zahorčitz consisted of 34 houses with 197 inhabitants. 33 houses belonged to Gut Niemtschitz and one to Strakonitz. There was an inn in the village. The parish was in Krasilau . Until the middle of the 19th century, Zahorčitz always remained subject to the Fideikommissgut Niemtschitz including Krasilau.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Zahořice / Zahorčitz 1850 a district of the municipality Jetišov in the district administration Strakonice and the judicial district Volyně . From 1880 the village formed its own municipality under the name Záhorčice . In 1920 there were 270 people in the village, and there was an inn and an elementary school in the village. In 1923 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. Zahorčice has been used as an official place name since 1924 . On April 1, 1976 it was incorporated into Čestice . In 1975 an extinguishing water pond was created. After a referendum, Zahorčice broke away from Čestice on November 24, 1990 and formed its own municipality. In 2007, the construction of the transmission and observation tower on the Kbíl began, which was opened in 2008.
