history

What was then Sedlitz and the surrounding area at the end of the 19th century (left center, special map of the 3rd land survey )

The first written mention of Sedlecz comes from the year 1352. At that time, the owners of the place were the Bavor von Strakonitz , who held it until 1404 and then sold it to the Lords of Kraselov. In 1505 Mikuláš Malovec z Pacova became the owner and the late Gothic festivities probably originated in this period. In 1533 Adam Řepický ze Sudoměře bought Malovec Sedlice and in 1539 raised the place to a market. Zdenko von Sternberg bought Sedlice from his grandson .

Under the Sternbergers, the fortress was transformed into a renaissance castle, which Adam d. Ä. von Sternberg made his residence. He was married to Maria Maximiliane, widow of Joachim Ulrich von Neuhaus , and died in 1623. After that, the rule fell into disrepair and the castle was used as a manor.

Another owner of Sedlice was from 1713 Adam Count von Buggau ( Lažanští z Bukové ) and from 1726 the Counts Czernin von Chudenitz . With the wedding of Maria Josepha Czernin von Chudenitz in 1753, Sedlice passed to Marshal August Graf Lobkowitz, who added the property to his rule Dürhovel . After the end of patrimonial Sedlice became an independent market town in 1848. The Lobkowicz family on Drhovle remained the owners of the estate until it was expropriated after the Second World War.

There has been a lace school in Sedlice since 2003. It was set up as part of the program with financial support from the municipality and the EU to revive the old craft. Sedlice has been a city since 2006.
