Řepice [ ˈr̝ɛpɪt͡sɛ ] (German Repitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers northeast of Strakonice and belongs to the Okres Strakonice .

history

Řepice was first mentioned in 1251 in a document by Ottokar II Přemysl . At the end of the 14th century it belonged to Chval von Řepice, who fought on the side of the Hussites during the Hussite Wars. From the 1470s it was owned by the Řepický von Sudoměř family ( Řepičtí ze Sudoměře ).

In 1552 the humanist Jan Hodějovský z Hodějova Řepice acquired. He expanded the fortress into a palace in the Renaissance style and equipped it with a rich library. Around this time, a church, a brewery, a malt house , a mill, a Vorwerk as well as hop fields and gardens are designated for the place. The Hodějovský held Řepice until the battle of the White Mountain . During the Thirty Years War Řepice was devastated and looted. The abandoned castle was burned down by the imperial family and destroyed to the ground.

At the end of the 17th century, Johann Anton Losy von Losinthal bought Řepice. He had houses built for thresher and gave his servants field and garden land. At the end of the 18th century, Messrs Losy von Losinthal sold the site of the former castle, on which residential houses were built at the beginning of the 19th century, which today form the central village.

After Adam Philipp Count Losy von Losinthal died on April 21, 1781 in Vienna without heirs, his widow Ernestine Countess Fuchs von Bimbach inherited the rule. In the same year she sold the property to Joseph-Niklas zu Windisch-Graetz . He was followed in 1802 by his son Alfred I. zu Windisch-Graetz .

The Lords of Windisch-Graetz remained large landowners in Řepice until 1922, after which the land was parceled out and houses built in the course of the land reform .

Řepice was an independent municipality until 1960, then it was incorporated into Rovná and in 1976 to Strakonice. After the fall of the Wall in 1990, the place regained its independence.

Today there is a volleyball club, recreational soccer players and a tennis court in the village. Because of the low land prices, several companies relocated their production to the town.
