Ryū Saitō ( Japanese 齋藤 竜 Saitō Ryū ; born September 18, 1979 in Hokkaido ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Saitō learned to play football on the school team of Muroran Otani High School and the university team of Kokushikan University . He signed his first contract with Cerezo Osaka in 2002 . The club played in the second highest league in the country, the J2 League . In 2002 he was runner-up with the club in the J2 League and was promoted to the J1 League . For the club he completed 18 first division games. In 2005 he moved to the second division Thespa Kusatsu . For the club, he completed 68 league games. In 2007 he moved to third division FC Gifu . At the end of 2007 he ended his career as a football player.
