Ryan Coiner (born September 7, 1979 in Aliso Viejo , California ) is a retired American football player.
Player career
college
Coiner played college soccer at the University of San Diego from 1999 to 2002 . In 2000 and 2002 he was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year and in 2002 was appointed to the NSCAA Second Team All-American selection. In 2001 he played for the Southern California Seahorses in the USL Premier Development League during hiatus from college . 2003 played for the Orange County Blue Stars .
Move to Germany
After graduating from college, Coiner moved to Germany in the summer of 2003. He moved to Arminia Bielefeld's second team , who was playing in the Westphalian football league at the time . He scored 16 goals in 20 games but was never considered for the first team.
After one season, Coiner moved to the third-class Regionalliga Nord for 1. FC Union Berlin . Here he was in 32 of 36 games on the field. After the relegation of Berlin at the end of the season, Coiner moved again to Kiel . Here, too, he only stayed one season, as he could not agree on a contract extension with Holstein, but was again one of the team's regulars.
Back to the USA
On July 13, 2006, he signed with the Columbus Crew , who played in Major League Soccer . At the end of the season, Coiner was transferred to Chicago Fire in exchange for another draft at the 2007 MLS SuperDraft . Before the 2007 season began, he ended his career.
After football
After his football career, Ryan Coiner worked as a financial advisor in Fort Worth , Texas , where he has lived with his family since 2007.
