Ryk Tulbagh
Ryk Tulbagh (born May 14, 1699 in Utrecht , Netherlands ; † August 11, 1771 in Cape Town , South Africa ) was governor of the Cape Colony from February 27, 1751 to August 11, 1771.
Ryk Tulbagh grew up in Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands. At the age of sixteen he joined the Dutch East India Company and in 1716 emigrated to South Africa on the ship Terhorst .
The city of Tulbagh in the Western Cape Province of South Africa is named after him.
