Band history
Common history
The musicians Dan Berglund ( bass ) and Magnus Öström ( drums ) already formed the band est with Esbjörn Svensson from 1993 to 2008 .
After the band ended, the two musicians continued to work together, including with the EST follow-up project, est symphony .
In 2011 the Norwegian jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft founded a duo with the German DJ Henrik Schwarz . In 2014 Dan Berglund joined and the new trio was called Trialogue . Berglund and Wesseltoft knew each other from the days when est and Wesseltoft's band New Conception of Jazz often played together at festivals.
Öström joins them (from 2016)
After Wesseltoft liked working with Dan Berglund, he decided to found a jazz trio with him. As a drummer he asked Magnus Öström.
Since the end of est, Berglund and Öström had not founded a follow-up project that played new music and initially hesitated. In 2012 they last turned down an offer to start a new full-time band. In the end, however, both agreed and the band had their first appearance at the Nattjazz Festival in Bergen . According to Wesseltoft, after this successful performance, the band began work on a debut album. Wesseltoft had the band signed on his Jazzland label . Further appearances followed in 2017 and 2018.
Musically, influences from modern jazz were mixed with classical music such as Johann Sebastian Bach as well as film music and rock . There are also influences from Scandinavian folk music .
Her debut album Reflections & Odysseys was released on February 8, 2019 . The album reached number 53 in the German album charts . A major European tour is planned for 2019.
