Dan Berglund (born May 5, 1963 in Pilgrimstad ) is a Swedish double bass player who has emerged mainly in jazz and fusion .

Live and act

Berglund became familiar with Swedish folk music in his family as well as with pop and rock music. At the age of ten he started playing as a rock guitarist and later switched to the bass guitar . As part of his training at the Birka Folkhögskola in Östersund , he came to the double bass and played in the regional symphony orchestra, with which he also had guest tours and first television appearances. In 1990 he moved to Stockholm to study at the Royal Music Academy . There he played in the Jazz Furniture group and in Lina Nyberg's quintet , where he met Esbjörn Svensson .

Since 1993 he was a member of the soon extremely successful Esbjörn Svensson Trio , with whom he recorded numerous albums and toured around the world. He was part of the trio until the band leader's death in 2008.

In 2009 he founded his own crossover band Tonbruket , which also includes Johan Lindström (guitars, piano), Martin Hederos (piano, accordion, violin, keyboard) and Andreas Werliin (drums, percussion), who do not come from the jazz scene. The group's debut album was awarded a Gyllene Skivan . With Werlin and Mats Gustafsson he also appeared in the Fire! Orchestra up. With Bugge Wesseltoft and Magnus Öström he had success in the Trio Rymden .
