Kimata started internationally for the first time in April 2018 at the World Rookie Finals on the Kitzsteinhorn . There he was third in slopestyle. In the 2018/19 season he won the Corvatsch Rookie Fest and the Zillertal Valley Ralley in slopestyle. At the 2019 Junior World Championships in Kläppen , he won the gold medal in Big Air. He also took 60th place in Slopestyle. He made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup at the beginning of the 2019/20 season in Cardrona , which he finished in 12th place in Big Air. This was followed by two fourth places in Big Air and achieved his first podium places in the World Cup in Atlanta with third place in Big Air and in Mammoth with second place in Slopestyle. At the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne , he won the gold medal in Big Air and also took 15th place in slopestyle. He finished the season in seventh place in the Slopestyle World Cup, fifth in the Freestyle World Cup and third in the Big Air World Cup.
