SKi-Optimal Hochfügen-Hochzillertal is a ski area in the Zillertal in the Tux Pre-Alps .

history

Since a connection between the ski areas of the Bergbahnen Hochzillertal and Hochfügen was established in December 2004 , the resort, with approx. 89 kilometers of slopes and 37 lifts, is one of the three largest ski areas in the Zillertal, along with the Zillertal Arena and Ski Zillertal 3000 . Depending on the snow conditions, the ski season usually starts with weekend operations in November and December. Continuous lift operation takes place from December to early or mid-April. The area is the home skiing area of Olympic champion Stephan Eberharter , after whom the long valley run was named.

Hochfügen-Hochzillertal has existed since December 2004 from the sub-areas of the places Hochfügen in the municipality of Fügenberg and Hochzillertal in the municipality of Kaltenbach . They are connected to one another via several chairlifts.

You can enter the SKi-optimal Hochfügen - Hochzillertal area from both ski areas , although most skiers prefer the valley station of the Hochzillertal cable car in Kaltenbach due to the 12 km journey to Hochfügen . A second eight-seater cabin lift was opened there in 2006, which runs parallel to the old lift from the Kaltenbach valley station to the ski area without stopping.

Since 2009, races in the European Snowboard Cup have been held annually in the ski area .

The lighting of the night slope in Hochfügen, which will be operated from November 21, 2014, is the first slope lighting in Austria to work with LED lights. These can now be switched and dimmed remotely, focus the light better on the slopes and replace halogen tubes with 2000 watts of electrical power each.
