Ryszard Szmydki

Ryszard Szmydki OMI (born April 26, 1951 in Tarebiski ( Sławatycze municipality ), Poland ) is a Polish Roman Catholic religious and dogmatist .

Life

Ryszard Szmydki joined the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary in 1970 and made perpetual profession on January 21, 1977 . He received on 2 July 1978, the sacrament of Holy Orders . As a result, Szmydki obtained a degree in dogmatics from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome . He was then at the Catholic University of Lublin in trade dogma doctorate . Szmydki then taught dogmatics at this university for several years.

Ryszard Szmydki later went to Cameroon as a missionary for two years . After returning to Poland in 2005, he became Vicar Provincial for the Mission. In 2010 Szmydki was elected Provincial Superior of the Polish Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. In 2013 he was re-elected to this office. On April 3, 2014, Ryszard Szmydki was appointed general secretary of the Pontifical Work for the Propagation of the Faith .

On 28 September 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the Under Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .
