Sándor Garay

Sándor Garay (born February 4, 1920 in Budapest ; † February 7, 2006 ibid.) Was a Hungarian medium and long-distance runner .

Over 1500 m he was fifth at the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 and seventh at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. In 1949 he won the World Festival of Youth and Students , and in 1952 he was eliminated from the Olympic Games in Helsinki .

At the EM 1954 in Bern, he was ninth in the 5000 m .

Eight times he was Hungarian champion over 1500 m (1944-1950, 1952) and three times over 800 m (1946-1948) and 5000 m (1945, 1946, 1952).
