São Jomil , also São Jumil , is a place and a former municipality in northeastern Portugal , in the Trás-os-Montes region .

history

Population development in the municipality of São Jomil (1864–2011)

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the municipality of São Jomil was part of the Vilar Seco de Lomba district . In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the Vilar Seco de Lomba district was dissolved and the municipality of São Jomil was incorporated into the new Santalha district.

Since the dissolution of the Santalha district in 1853, São Jomil has been a municipality of the Vinhais district. Around 1840 Vilar de Lomba was spun off from the São Jomil municipality.

São Jomil was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Vinhais , in the Bragança district . The municipality had an area of ​​7.96 km² and had 38 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The community only consisted of the eponymous capital.

As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal in 2013 , the municipalities of São Jomil and Vilar de Lomba were merged on September 29, 2013 to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Vilar de Lomba e São Jomil . The seat of the new municipality was Vilar de Lomba.
