Vilar de Lomba is a place and a former municipality in northeastern Portugal , in the Trás-os-Montes region .

history

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the place belonged to the municipality of São Jomil , in the district of Vilar Seco de Lomba . In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the Vilar Seco de Lomba district was dissolved and the municipality of São Jomil was incorporated into the new Santalha district.

Around 1840 Vilar de Lomba became an independent municipality in the Vinhais district.

With the territorial reform on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Vilar de Lomba and São Jomil were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Vilar de Lomba e São Jomil , with Vilar de Lomba as the seat of the new municipality.
