Reisinger worked as a pastor in the Vienna parish of St. Anna. Within the group, the desire to found a binding community developed and so they created a set of rules together with Father Reisinger and gave themselves the provisional name “Sales Sisters” . In 1939, 2 women joined the new women's community, which grew to 20 members by 1944.

Archbishop Theodor Cardinal Innitzer of Vienna granted on April 19, 1947 permission to unite believers . This association was given the status of a secular institute of diocesan law by Cardinal Franz König in 1964 . Father Reisinger was the spiritual assistant until his death. Today the sales sisters work in Brazil , Germany , Ecuador , Namibia , Nigeria , Austria and the USA . Your generalate is based in Vienna.

In the middle of life

According to the evangelical counsels , the Salessisters commit themselves to live in poverty, to be celibate and to obey . In addition to the sisters who took the vow, there are also associated members (men and women without vows) in the secular institute. The spiritual core of the community lies in the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales and the rules of the order established for the Salesians .

The members do not live in any communities, they are “in the middle of life”, in their profession and in their selected areas of life. The women practice communal life at regular meetings, days of reflection , retreats and personal encounters. Unmarried or widowed women between the ages of 25 and 60 can apply for admission. The introductory period of two years ends with the performance of the vow .
