biography

Dolan was originally a farmer and later worked as a teacher . In 1969 he renounced a renewed candidacy for the Senate and failed on the other hand with his renewed candidacies in the constituency of Cavan for a seat in the lower house in the elections in 1969 and 1973.

In 1973 he became a member of the Senate for Fianna Fáil as a representative of the workforce and was a member of it until 1982.

During this time he was from October 27, 1977 to October 7, 1981 Cathaoirleach and thus President of the Senate and then from October 9, 1981 to April 20, 1982 Vice President of the Senate ( Leas-Cathaoirleach ).
