Sébastien Le Toux (born January 10, 1984 in Mont-Saint-Aignan , Seine-Maritime Department , France ) is a French football player . He currently plays in Major League Soccer for the Colorado Rapids .

Career

Beginnings in France

Since he was 13 he played football at Stade Rennes . At 17 he attended the club's youth academy, but since Rennes did not offer him a professional contract two years later, he moved to FC Lorient . There he could not prevail and decided to go to the USA.

From the USL to the MLS

In spring 2007 he moved to the Seattle Sounders . Before that, he had a trial session at FC Dallas , but couldn't convince there, so he signed with the Sounders.

In his first season in the USL First Division , Le Toux scored ten goals and was top scorer alongside Charles Gbeke of Montreal Impact . He was also able to win the championship with his team. He was voted the league's best player in 2007.

On May 8, 2008, Le Toux signed with Seattle Sounders FC , who played in Major League Soccer from the 2009 season. During the season he played 28 times for the MLS's newest franchise, but could only score one goal. In the 2009 US Open Cup final, he prepared the winning goal for the Sounders.

On July 2nd, 2008 he announced in an interview that he was ready to play for the USA national team.

At the end of the season, he was not among the eleven players to protect Sounders for the 2009 MLS Expansion Draft. He was drafted on November 25, 2009 by the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Expansion Draft.

Le Toux scored the first goal in history for the Philadelphia Union on April 10, 2010. In the same season he scored a total of 14 goals and was the team's most successful goalscorer. He was on the starting line-up for the 2010 MLS All-Star Game against Manchester United. In his second season for Union, he scored 11 goals.

After a trial session at the English first division team Bolton Wanderers in January 2012, which did not result in a commitment, he moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps for a transfer .

On July 13, there was a swap, as a result of which Le Toux moved to the New York Red Bulls and Dane Richards to Vancouver. In the 24th minute of his debut for New York, Le Toux scored against Seattle Sounders FC . The match on July 15, 2012 ended 2-2.

On December 6, 2012, Le Toux went back to the Philadelphia Union in exchange for Josué Martínez .
