Sérgio Trefaut
Sérgio Tréfaut , also Serge Treffaut , (born February 23, 1965 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Portuguese film director .
Life
Tréfaut is the son of a Portuguese father and a French mother, whose changeable lives he later dealt with in his film Fleurette . He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne and then worked as a journalist and assistant director in Lisbon . In 1992 he made his first own work, the short film Alcibíades with Maria de Medeiros .
He has received several awards for his documentaries. His film Lisboetas about the new immigrants in what is now Lisbon was recognized as best film by the IndieLisboa and was the most-watched documentary in Portugal after it was released. In 2011 he made his first feature film with Viagem a Portugal . His documentary Alentejo, Alentejo , released in 2014 , won the IndieLisboa award for best Portuguese film. The work portrays the Cante alentejano , a traditional polyphonic singing from the Alentejo , in the list of the 2014 Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO was taken.
Tréfaut directed the international documentary film festival Doclisboa for several years and was president of the documentary film association Associação Portuguesa de Documentários (Apordoc).
