Síofra O'Leary

Síofra O'Leary (born September 20, 1968 in Dublin ) is an Irish lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

O'Leary in 1986 transferred law at University College Dublin , where she in 1989 with the Bachelor of Laws ended in civil law their studies. She completed her studies at the European University Institute in Florence, where she received her Ph.D. acquired in European law. After holding research positions at the Universities of Cádiz and London , she worked from 1995 to 1996 as Assistant Director at the Center for European Law Studies at the University of Cambridge , and later as a Fellow at Emmanuel College there .

From 1996 O'Leary worked as a "Référendaire" (consultant) at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, from 2000 she was also "Chef de cabinet" and from 1999 to 2004 Visiting Fellow at the University of Dublin. Since 2003 she has been a permanent visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges . O'Leary held various positions at the Court of Justice of the European Union until 2015. In April 2015 she was elected Judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Ann Power as representative of Ireland . Her term began on July 2, 2015 and is expected to end on July 1, 2024.
