Søren Sveistrup (* 1968 in Kastrup near Copenhagen) is a Danish screenwriter . He became known for his scripts for the series Nikolaj og Julie (original title, 2002-2003) and the crime series Kommissarin Lund - Das Verbrechen ( Forbrydelsen , 2007-2012)

Youth and education

Søren Sveistrup was born in Kastrup near Copenhagen in 1968. He grew up on the island of Funen (Danish: Fyn) in Thurø near the port city of Svendborg .

In 1989 , at the age of twenty-one, he went to Copenhagen to study history and literature and began to write himself. According to his own statements, he was inspired by Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories and by Agatha Christie . He later attended the Danish Film School and trained as a screenwriter.

Scripts for films and series

In 1997 he began to work as a series writer for the Danish television broadcaster DR and wrote the screenplay: “Deadline” (Director: Esben Heilund Carlsen, on TV on March 30, 1997).

He worked on the scripts for several episodes (16, 19, 20, 21, 26, 31, 42) of the series "Taxi" (Danish: "Taxa") (1996–1999), where he was written by Stig Thorsboe , a winner of the Nordic Film Prize , could learn. In 1999 he and Jannik Johansen wrote the screenplay for the 37-minute film “Aus der Spur” (Danish: “Afsporet”). He had his breakthrough as a series writer from 2002 to 2003 as the lead screenwriter of the 22-part series "Nikolaj and Julie". He was the main writer of episodes 1, 2, 3, 6, 11. The broadcast of the 1st season (8 episodes) took place from September 29, 2002 to November 17, 2002, that of the 2nd season (8 episodes) from 9. February 2003 to March 30, 2003, and the third season (6 episodes) from September 28, 2003 to November 2, 2003. The series was a success in Denmark, Norway and Sweden; the second season won the 2003 International Emmy Award in New York City.

According to his concept / manuscript, the crime series Forbrydelsen was realized from 2006 , in the first season of which the murder of a 19-year-old schoolgirl is solved in 20 days. The 20-part first season was followed by a second and third season in 2009 and 2012. In Germany, ZDF broadcast the series under the title Kommissarin Lund - Das Verbrechen from 2008 in the form of feature films. The series was nominated for the 2007 International Emmy Award in New York, but did not win. Søren Sveistrup received the Haederspris from the Danish Drama Association for Forbrydelsen in 2008 .
