Südbad (Munich)
The Südbad is an indoor pool in Munich that also offers aqua courses and a sauna area. It is located at Valleystraße 37 in the Sendling district near the Harras traffic junction . When the weather is nice and warm, the gates of the facade are lowered and the south pool becomes an "outdoor pool with a roof". The Südbad was officially opened for the first time in 1960 as the first public bath in Munich. In the years 1999/2000, the former bathing establishment with two swimming pools was renovated in a first construction phase, the ground and basement floors were combined into a large changing area and equipped with new shower and sanitary facilities. In the years 2006–2008 the Südbad was renovated several times and reopened on December 2nd, 2008 by Christian Ude , the Lord Mayor of Munich.
The Südbad is barrier-free, so it has an elevator on the facade into the building, an elevator in the building, a large shower and sanitary area, large changing rooms in the swimming area and in the sauna, a pool entry aid in the swimmer's pool and a disabled parking space at the outdoor elevator.

Renovation (2006-2008)
Towards the end of 2006, the Südbad was closed for renovation with an advance notice of around six months. The complete renovation of the old water system was planned and implemented, the facade was renewed both inside and outside, a spacious sauna area with two saunas and a steam bath were created, an outdoor wellness pool with a flow channel, bubble loungers, bubble pot, massage and neck showers as well as the Lining of the basins with stainless steel. Furthermore, the interior facade was modernized and the floor renewed, but the entrance area as well as the shower and sanitary facilities and the changing rooms were not renovated. This project was planned and constructed by the architects Guggenbichler + Netzer. The renovation was designed in such a way that the old style was retained and the modern components were sensibly integrated.
