For the second time in the history of the Southeast Asian Games, an ice hockey competition was held at the 30th Southeast Asian Games. The tournament took place from December 1st to 8th, 2019 in the ice rink of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay near the Philippine capital Manila . As in 2017, the men's tournament was played with five participants. The defending champions were the Philippines .
The gold medal went to Thailand , who won all of their tournament games and beat the team from Singapore 8-0 in the final . The defending champion from the Philippines had to be content with third place.
A total of 3,185 spectators attended the 14 tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 227 per game. Ken Kindborn from Thailand secured the top scorer title with 28 points .
The planned women's competition was canceled because only three countries had registered interest.
mode
The five teams played in an all-against-all mode, so that each team played four games. The four teams with the highest points then qualified for the semi-finals, where the tournament winner and the other places were determined in the knockout system.
