The South Swabian Archaeological Museum Mindelheim , formerly the South Swabian Prehistory Museum Mindelheim , is an archaeological and cultural history museum in the Swabian Mindelheim in Bavaria .

The museum was established at the beginning of 1994 as the ninth museum of the Archaeological State Collection Munich in the city's former Jesuit college . The focus of the collection is on the settlement and cultural history of the southern Swabian region from the Ice Age to the early Middle Ages .

The presentation takes place in chronological order based on archaeological finds from the districts of Upper , Lower and Ostallgäu as well as important new research results from the neighboring Upper Bavarian districts. The highlights of the exhibition are finds from the prehistoric settlement of Pestenacker ( Altheim culture ), the early Roman settlement on the Auerberg and the rich finds from the Alemannic burial ground in Mindelheim.
