Sōya coast ( Japanese 宗 谷 海岸 Sôya Kaigan ; Norwegian Sôyakysten ; English Sôya Coast ) is the name of the coast of the Lützow-Holm Bay in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land between the glacier tongue Flattunga and the Shirase (belonging to the Crown Prince Olav coast ) Glacier or the western end of the Skallevikhalsen range of hills ⊙ . It is therefore the eastern part of the Prince Harald Coast in the broader sense.
Equipped with Norwegian maps based on aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen Expedition 1936/37 , the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) carried out detailed surveying work on this stretch of coast from 1957 and named it after the research vessel Sōya , which in turn was named after the sub-prefecture of Sōya is named.
