The ЭР25 ( ER25 ) is a multiple unit built at the Rigaer Waggonfabrik (RVR) in the Latvian SSR , which was manufactured for the BDŽ under the class 32 . Why it appeared in the lists as ЭР25 ( ER25 ) can probably only be due to the fact that some vehicles were manufactured as test models and remained in the USSR . The exact number of vehicles produced is not known. There is also only incomplete information about the fate of the vehicles.

history

The vehicle was created on the basis of the SŽD series ЭР2 and SŽD series ЭР9 for the Bulgarian State Railways BDZ in the years 1970 to 1980.

In addition to the European track width of 1,435 mm, the vehicles differed from the standards of the former USSR , especially in the components of the motor control car . This concerned the installation of an additional luggage compartment behind the driver's cab and the interior fittings with other doors. The changes concerned the equipment with the pulling and buffing device according to European standards with a buffer and screw coupling . Between the wagons there was the possibility of coupling with the automatic central buffer coupling , the end wagons had the European pulling and buffing device at their end parts.

The vehicles were built between 1970 and 1980. The exact number of vehicles produced is not known. From 1988 to 1991 an improved version of the series was delivered, which was given the designation 33.XXX by the BDZ , but only 6 units of this improved version came to Bulgaria before the fall of the Wall, after which production was discontinued. Beginning in 2005, the trains will gradually be replaced by electrically powered Desiro trains with the designation 30 and 31 . In 2014, around 18 Series 32 units and one Series 33 unit were still in operation.

Technical characteristics

The electric hoists of the series ЭР25 ( BDZ - series 32 ) with the standard power system 25 kV 50 Hz alternating current used by the BDZ were used . A motor vehicle from the series was equipped with four four-pole drive motors for pulsating current. The traction motors had their own cooling system. Its rated power was 210 kW and its rated voltage was 825 V. The maximum speed was 2,080 / min, the maximum mass 2,000 kg. The degree of attenuation of the traction current of the drive motors was 45%.

The vehicles had a rechargeable battery of the type 90КН-125 ( 90KN-125 ). It worked on a nickel-cadmium basis , it had a capacity of 125 Ah, the nominal voltage was 110 V. The multiple units were equipped with multiple control systems and were designed for a maximum speed of 130 km / h. In 2002, in connection with the increasing wear and tear of the vehicles, the maximum speed was limited to 110 km / h. The train was able to accelerate from standstill to 80 km / h in 30 seconds.

business

Usually the train consisted of four cars; two motor control cars and two intermediate cars . In some cases two electric trains were operated coupled. The trains were used on connections of small and medium dimensions with many stops. In Bulgaria these trains are called пътнически влак (passenger trains ), in contrast to the бърз влак (express trains) and експресен влак (express trains). These trains are mainly differentiated in the medium speed range, the number of stops and the price of the tickets.
