S / 2000 (1998 WW 31 ) 1 is the moon of the trans-Neptunian object 1998 WW 31 , with which it forms the first double system discovered in the Kuiper belt after Pluto - Charon .

S / 2000 (1998 WW 31 ) 1 was discovered in April 2001 by Christian Veillet, Joshua Shapiro and Alain Doressoundiram on recordings made on December 21 and 22, 2000. The discovery was published on April 16, 2001 .
