The SAS-968M "Saporoshez" ( Ukrainian ЗАЗ-968М "Запорожець" , Russian ЗАЗ-968М "Запорожец" ) is a small car from the Soviet , now Ukrainian manufacturer Saporisky Avtomobilebudiwny Sawod (for short . The model was primarily intended for the domestic market.

The main differences to the predecessor, the SAS-968A, were the smooth body without large side air intakes, rectangular taillights, new bumpers, fewer chrome parts, a new dashboard and a larger trunk. The use of plastic parts made it possible to reduce the vehicle weight by 40 kg.

In 1981, 149,000 small cars were produced. Production of the SAS-968M ceased in May 1994. As early as 1987, the successor model, the ZAZ 1102 Tavria , a station wagon with front-wheel drive and water-cooled front engine was presented.
