Fc 2x3 / 3 12200 was the name of an electric locomotive of the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB ) until May 1920 . Since then it has been referred to as Ce 6/6 14101.

history

The locomotive was ordered from Siemens-Schuckert in 1912 for the Swedish Malmbanan ( Kiruna - Riksgränsen ), but was not accepted by the customer because of the First World War . The SBB bought the locomotive in 1919, it was scrapped and demolished in 1937.

The locomotive was nicknamed the Röthenbach saw because of the sound that the slow-running engines made, reminiscent of a mechanical sawmill . The namesake was a sawmill near Röthenbach in the Emmental .

The locomotive was scrapped early because it was a one-off piece and caused high maintenance costs.

technology

The Fc 2x3 / 3 was a double locomotive that consisted of two identical locomotive halves that were firmly connected to each other. Each half of the locomotive had a large motor and a transformer with all the necessary control parts. The engine was located behind the driver's cab and drove the jackshaft via a rod. This in turn drove the three axles mounted in an inner frame via rods. The drive was therefore direct, without any translation. Seen from the front, the distance between the first and second axles was 2000 mm, followed by the jackshaft after 1100 mm and the third axle after another 1100 mm. The distance between the two innermost (third) axes was 2530 mm. The total axle base was thus 10930 mm. Each wheel was braked on one side with a brake block, and each half of the locomotive had a brake cylinder.

Operational

The locomotive was mainly used for the transport of freight trains between Bern and Thun.
